Edinburgh Whisky Academy at La Boutique Whisky Experience, La Plata

The whisky community of La Plata came together last weekend (15 November 2025) for the La Boutique Whisky Experience at the Hotel Grand Brizo and we were proud to be part of it.

Representing Edinburgh Whisky Academy on the day was Natalia Grego, a talented graduate of our Diploma in Single Malt Whisky and a student of Joe Cabassa, our Gold Level Approved Course Provider at Academia De Whisky. Natalia delivered an engaging "Scotch Whisky Aroma Challenge", guiding more than 30 enthusiastic attendees through the sensory possibilities of whisky and the value of structured whisky education.

Her activity not only showcased the fun of aroma exploration but also highlighted the SQA-certified courses available locally through Joe and – soon – other teachers he has trained across the region.

Huge thanks to Natalia for being such a warm, knowledgeable representative for EWA, and to Joe for facilitating the collaboration. One of our top Educators globally, Joe has now taught 160+ students across Latin America, delivering courses including the Diploma in Single Malt Whisky, Certificate in Scotch Whisky, Certificate in Irish Whiskey, Certificate in Gin and the Certificate in Sensory Appreciation.

Our thanks also go to the event organisers for putting on a fantastic festival that celebrated community, culture and the joy of whisky learning. Be sure to check out their videos on social.

Kirsty McKerrow, our Founder & Managing Director said: “This is exactly the vision I had for the Approved Course Provider programme… local activations, led by people we trust and respect, taking place in communities we cannot be in ourselves. It’s inspiring to see whisky education being shared with such passion around the world.”

La Boutique Whisky Experience was a neat reminder of why we do what we do: whisky brings people together and education deepens those connections. Slàinte to the  vibrant whisky culture growing across Latin America!
