Meet the Educator: Devin Ershow

We’re thrilled to welcome Devin Ershow as our Approved Course Provider in Denver, Colorado. Devin’s passion for whiskey began in Dublin, Ireland, during an impromptu visit to the Irish Whiskey Museum... a tour that would spark a lifelong journey into the world of whiskey. Since then, he has honed his expertise working for several craft whiskey producers across the United States, including Wigle Whiskey, Kings County Distillery, Denver Distillery, and Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey. In 2020, Devin founded his own award-winning whiskey company, American Mash & Grain.

With an impressive collection of certifications - including Executive Bourbon Steward, Level II Award in Spirits with Distinction, Certified Bourbon Professional, Certified Scotch Professional and, of course, our flagship Diploma in Single Malt Whisky - Devin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to every class. His career has spanned roles as Brand Ambassador, Tour Guide, Tour & Events Manager, Distiller, Blender and Mixologist.

For Devin, whiskey is the perfect balance of science, art and magic. He delights in helping people discover whiskey in a way that is approachable and enjoyable, especially for those who might have thought it wasn’t for them. “Whatever I can do to help make this incredible spirit more accessible is the least I can do to honour this age-old process,” he says.

Devin is especially excited to represent Edinburgh Whisky Academy in Colorado. “The care and attention that the Academy pours into its courses is unrivalled. I’m thrilled to bring these incredible resources to the local community and share the joy of whiskey education.”

Devin’s Advice for Aspiring Whisky Enthusiasts:

“Have a passion for it and be like a sponge. Read, watch, visit, taste, analyse. Build a vocabulary for aromas and flavours. And above all, enjoy the journey! It’s a tough industry, but one worth every step.”
