Tormore
Tormore Distillery is situated near the village of Advie in the heart of Speyside.
The distillery has a distinctive appearance. Designed by Sir Albert Richardson, a prominent architect known for his neo-classical style, it features a blend of classical and contemporary elements. The distillery buildings are adorned with columns, arches and sculptures, creating an imposing yet elegant presence that's visible on the road between Aberlour and Granton.
Vic says: "It's another interesting one that's not really well known. In terms of spirit character, it’s very fruity, very estery and very sweet which is my preferred flavour profile. It's one of my favourite distilleries, I love the location and the buildings. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I really like it."
Production Style
Tormore whiskies are known for their elegant fruity character with a subtle complexity. The distillery uses traditional copper pot stills for distillation, and the spirit is typically matured in a combination of American oak and European oak casks, including ex-bourbon barrels and sherry casks.
Visitor Centre
Tormore Distillery is not generally open to the public for tours or tastings. Vic says: "It's in a prime location for a visitor centre, so lots to look forward to with the takeover by Elixir, I can’t wait to see what their plans are.”
